I loved reading this one from beginning until end; it had such great moments. The interviewer's questions were insightful, and really what I wanted to ask. Darnton writes with the command of language honed over years of journalism, but what makes the book sing is his deep emotional honesty and his unflinching portraits of his mother and father, The New York Times--which loomed over both his parents, his own imperiled youth, and the larger considerations of memory and loss. Each book in this series is fantastic. Again, this book tries to explain these in simple terms by unlocking some of the details the average reader might not know about. Different types of coal, and a history of their uses are also discussed in the early pages.
