The clever combination of classic Jewish themes with the traditions of Nordic crime makes for a refreshing tale with wide appeal. I discovered a terrific short video on YouTube about the trip Darnton took to Papua New Guinea where his father died while covering WWII for The Times. It's understood that's he's trying to kill everyone, and there's a little bit of why too. My grandchild loves this book. Further, it answers in a most satisfactory manner what had heretofore been an ignored period in French military and civilian life, the period September 1939 through late June 1940. They are very colorful and full of many details of Chinese life as well as fantasy aspects.
REVIEW: This is a delightful folk story made even more enjoyable by the subject matter of noodles of all shapes and sizes! It is also a story of Mei overcoming her fears of not being able to make the noodles for the Emperor's birthday. Film and Video Budgets, 6th Edition by Maureen A. Brilliant!. The graphics are an excellent companion to the text. I took off a star because of it, though.
